Christ Church: In the cold November Rain

November: upcoming events

'Cause nothing lasts forever, even cold November rain

November is where it's at. At least for us at Christ Church. Heading into only our 8th month of life together, we're excited for a series of events this November:

Nov 1st at 3pm: A neighborhood forum on Race and justice
Nov 2nd at 4pm: "Mesa," our continuing small group gathering
Nov 16th at 4:30pm: Our third ever worship gathering!
Nov 30th: Advent starts and weekly worship begins...

We are proud to join with the Albina Ministerial Alliance, neighborhood churches, the Urban League of Portland and others for this important forum on Ferguson and Race & Police Accountability in Portland. Join us 11/1 at 3pm at Maranatha Church.

Rev. White of Clergy United for Peace will share updates around the Ferguson, MO tragedy of April 9th.

The AMA Coalition will also use the event to update the community on the US Department of Justice lawsuit against the City of Portland for its use of excessive
force. More info ›

Our next worship gathering!

Love is a many splendored thing.
Love lifts us up where we belong.
In the name of love!
All you need is love!

God is love. So why do so many folks think he is so angry?
There’s a lot of talk out there about faith, hope & love, but when it comes to people of faith, they’re often totally scared of an angry God.

There was a man named John who remarked “We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us—and we ought to lay down our lives for one another.”

So, how might the way that God loves each and every one of us inform how we might extend love, compassion and justice towards one another?

Join us as we celebrate our third-ever worship gathering!

November 16th // 4:30pm

at Friends of the Children //

Interested in small groups? Mesa is the place.

Mesa means “table” in Spanish and Portuguese. It also refers to elevated places, particularly in American deserts. Mesa is Christ Church’s take on small groups - a place where everyone has a place at the table for spirited conversation, prayer, and a shared cup and bite. Gathering at Mesa means sitting with friends and strangers who will become friends, for an extended moment in our busy lives, on one shared journey.

Mesa is Christ Church's take on small groups. Currently we're journeying through Brian McLaren's latest book "We Make the Road By Walking."

We hope to glean wisdom from the Scriptures, pray for one another and share small bites. Our next gathering is November 2nd at 4pm.

We're excited for what's in store in the month again. Come in from the rain, grab a seat at the table, and join us as we seek to build Christ-centered community here, with others, in Portland.ovember uN
